Dr Jack Harrington

Chief Executive Officer

Dr Jack Harrington is the Chief Executive Officer of the British Academy of Management and leads the office team and works with BAM’s Executive and Council to implement its strategy.

Jack joined BAM from Chatham House: The Royal Institute of International Affairs, where he led research partnerships. Jack brings experience of working with boards to implement strategy, including as a trustee. He has experience of higher education and social science research gained across the UK and internationally as a funder, policy manager and researcher at including at the Wellcome Trust, the London School of Economics, the University of Surrey and the Open University.

Justina Senkus

Director of Operations

Justina Senkus joined BAM in early 2019 and is responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of BAM’s community events, professional development programmes and the annual Conference, as well as BAM's communications strategy and community relations. 

Justina has extensive experience of large-scale project delivery having previously worked in pan-European organisations specialising in digital innovation - EIT Digital (London, UK) and the European Alliance (Trento, Italy), research centres (Maynooth, Ireland) and the Royal College of Surgeons (Dublin, Ireland). Justina has over 15 years of experience managing educational projects and events locally and internationally.

Lewis Johnson

Conference and Communities Manager

Lewis Johnson has been with BAM since November 2014 and has worked in several different roles in his time.

Lewis works closely with the Director of Operations on the delivery and planning of the BAM Annual Conference, as well as managing BAM Communities such as SIGs and Tracks. Lewis also acts as the secretariat of the BAM Fellows and supports the activities of the College.

In his spare time, Lewis enjoys running, playing most sports, and more importantly being a dance dad to his two young daughters.

Ambra Risca

Programmes Coordinator

Ambra Risca, serving as the Programmes Coordinator at the BAM since November 2022, excels in providing seamless administration for both online and in-person events. In this role, she ensures to the success of the BAM Training Programmes.

Collaborating with volunteers, Ambra addresses queries and technical issues, supporting stakeholders and delegates with efficient and friendly assistance.

Additionally, Ambra plays a crucial role in coordinating activities for the Annual Conference, handling ad-hoc tasks, and leading specific projects assigned by the Director of Operations.

Justin Brown

Communications and Events Coordinator

Justin Brown started with BAM in January 2024 as their Communications and Events Coordinator.

He graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2008 with a 2:1 in English Language and Communications with Creative and Professional Writing.

After a myriad of roles in retail, education, merchant navy, and charity events since 2005, Justin began his journey in the communications and creative world; first working for a literary charity, then for himself, followed by the communications team for a London Borough, before joining BAM.

Sharon Miller

Finance Manager

Sharon Miller has worked in finance for almost 40 years and holds the CIMA qualification. Her experience is broad including the education and not for profit sector as well as service and manufacturing industries.

She joined BAM in 2019 and produces regular management accounts and financial information to enable the executives' decisions and to ensure the organisation is sustainable and able to deliver its objectives long term. Sharon also manages the payments process and supports compliance and financial governance, all in just two days each week.

Emma Missen

BAM Journals Managing Editor & Peer Review College Administrator

Emma Missen became the Managing Editor for the BAM Journals, British Journal of Management and International Journal of Management Reviews in December 2009, and more recently also the administrator for the BAM Peer Review College.

She works closely with the journal editors, board members, reviewers, authors and publishers. Emma has extensive experience of working in journal publishing having previously held various roles while working for Butterworth-Heinemann, Blackwell Science and Wiley.

Stuart Hull

Grants Administrator

Stuart Hull joined BAM on a part-time basis in 2019.  He is responsible for overseeing all of the administrative processes for the research grants offered by BAM, including the funding application and selection process, monitoring of project progress and finances, and capturing of impact arising from funded projects. He works closely with the BAM Chair of Research Grants and is a member of BAM's Research and Publications Committee.

Stuart has over 15 years of experience in higher education research administration, and continues to work part-time as a research finance officer at a London-based university.  He has an undergraduate degree in Law and a postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management.

In his free time, Stuart continues to develop his knowledge of Japanese language, film photography, and a general appreciation of music and visual arts.

Bertie

BAM Badger

Since the dawn of BAM, as preparations begin for their Annual Conferences, Bertie the BAM Badger has always been there, hidden in his sett, helping the BAM team from afar to get ready for the big week.

No one ever really knew how but overnight, boxes of giveaways would stack themselves in number order, lists of programmes and delegates appeared on desktops and printers, name badges mysteriously alphabetise themselves, and coffee would always miraculously be brewed for when it was needed the most.

As the BAM Conferences have grown, so too has Bertie's involvement in the office goings-on, until at last, he has emerged and become the face of the Conference Team, showing his steely eyed determination and courage to pull off the Conferences, no matter what.

Bertie the BAM Badger has since been promoted to Conference and Events Mascot, embodying the spirit of the BAM community. Whenever you see him, be sure to say a cheery hello or have your picture taken with him.
