With my background in Strategy and Business Economy, such as digital innovation, digital ethics, future of work, AI and society, international business strategy, leadership and organisational transformation, I will bring range of knowledge and a commitment to advancing research within the BAM community. Dr Heba Younis
I am an established researcher with a specialisation in international entrepreneurship, international management and strategy. My scholarly network involves collaborating with colleagues from the U.K., Europe and Middle East to publish in top tier journals such as International Business Review and Journal of International Management. I have also a record of securing grant funding of 1.2MM from the U.K. and Qatar National Research Fund since 2019. The brief highlight of my achievements since completing my PhD in 2019 establishes my dedicated commitment to the field and success in managing teams from different cultures.
My contribution to SIG will focus on further expanding its reach and profile by supporting young career researchers in launching and establishing their scholarly networks and enhancing their capabilities to publish in top-tier journals. Further, I foresee several opportunities to co-create value and research collaborations with funding bodies from emerging economies to the ultimate objective to progress the field and the profiles of SIG members. I wish to highlight that academia is my second career; I relaunched my career after completing my PhD in early 2019 after spending 12 yeas in investment banking with Morgan Stanely. My first career enabled me to develop a repository of ideas, contacts and skills that facilitated the shift to work in academia. I believe that the mix between my previous professional experiences and my present status as a full-time academic represent a unique skill set that would inspire and support early and established researchers.
BAM IBIM Communications Officer Statements:
Carolina Marín Cadavid
As an Early Career Researcher, I have been involved in academia since 2012. While serving as Head of the International Business programme at Universidad de Medellín (Colombia), I organised and led various academic events, including hosting the university’s radio programme for International Business.
In 2022, I was part of the organising team for the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship's “Scottish Entrepreneurship Research Seminar (SERS)”. These experiences helped me refine my logistics management and problem-solving skills.
I have also contributed to the organisation and design of workshops for stakeholders in research projects such as InterAct Hub and PrOPEL Hub in the UK. These workshops enabled us to turn cutting-edge research into practical solutions through knowledge exchange. Additionally, I promoted and communicated the outcomes of these projects on social networks like LinkedIn and through email campaigns.
Beyond academia, I have experience in sales, where I organised international trade missions for entrepreneurs from Medellín, helping them expand their businesses globally. This role enhanced my networking and communication skills, allowing me to interact effectively with managers, government officials, and academics.
I am eager to be considered for this position as it offers an opportunity to learn from leading IB/IM academics and contribute my expertise.

Stephanie Huang
As a mature PhD candidate in the writing-up stage, I'm eager to contribute to the role of Early Career Researcher (ECR) for Events by leveraging my combined industry and academic experiences and network. My goal is twofold: to build a vibrant network within the ECRs in IB/IM SIG and to foster connections that lead to collaborations and mentorship opportunities for ECRs.
To achieve this, I propose three main initiatives:
- Gather insights on ECRs' emerging interests and needs through seminars and virtual socials, ensuring our support remains impactful and relevant.
- Increase ECR visibility by creating a platform for research showcases, such as dedicated seminars where ECRs can present their work to the academic community.
- Bridge the gap between ECRs and established academics by developing tailored professional development resources, including "meet the editors" sessions to provide ECRs with valuable insights and connections.
These activities will not only support ECRs but also contribute to my own professional development and network expansion in academia. By organizing events, facilitating connections, and creating resources, I aim to enhance the ECR experience within our SIG while simultaneously developing my own skills and relationships in the field.
Through this role, I hope to make a meaningful impact on the ECR community while advancing my own career trajectory in academia. My unique perspective as both a PhD candidate and an experienced professional positions me well to understand and address the diverse needs of ECRs in our field.
