The European Management Journal (EMJ) is a flagship scholarly journal, publishing internationally leading research across all areas of management. EMJ articles challenge the status quo through critically informed empirical and theoretical investigations, and present the latest thinking and innovative research on major management topics, while still being accessible and interesting to non-specialists. Grounded in scientific, peer-reviewed research, the journal provides highly relevant insights to industry and a broad range of societal stakeholders.
EMJ articles are characterized by their intellectual curiosity and diverse methodological approaches, which lead to contributions that impact profoundly on management theory and practice. We welcome interdisciplinary research that synthesizes distinct research traditions to shed new light on contemporary challenges in the broad domain of European business and management.
Cross-cultural investigations addressing the challenges for European management scholarship and practice in dealing with global issues and contexts are strongly encouraged.

H.G Matthews is one of the U.K’s last traditional hand made brickworks. Located in rural Buckinghamshire they celebrated their centenary last year. Still owned and run by the founders family they manufacture for top end new builds as well as being widely known as specialist Brickmakers for conservation and heritage work.
Over their hundred year history they have produced bricks for many of the most prestigious buildings in England. In the last 25 years an increasing focus on sustainability has led to changes in production techniques. They have changed from diesel to biomass for drying the bricks and are the UK’s only Brickmakers to produce Woodfired bricks. Recently the company has launched a range of unfired clay and straw blocks known as Strocks which produce over 90% less CO2 than concrete blocks in their manufacture.

At the British Academy of Management we share your desire to intelligently and positively respond to this rapidly changing environment and, so, this year the theme of its Annual Conference is:
Achieving Transformation for Greater Good: societal, organisational and personal barriers and enablers
BAM’s 38th Annual Conference will be hosted by the Nottingham Busineess School (NBS) on the 2nd September (virtual day) and 4th-6th September (in person). The Conference is chaired by Professor Lynn Oxborrow and Professor Helen Shipton.
The main activity of the conference is the presentation and discussion of new research, complemented by high-profile keynote panels and interactive workshops, involving leading academics, practitioners and policymakers.
This is the second year that the BAM conference will run in a hybrid format to allow authors to present their papers in an inclusive manner, whilst also creating networking opportunities for our community. In addition, some in-person programme elements such as keynote panels, will be live-streamed to our virtual audience. We expect over 1,000 participants from over 59 countries again. The conference will be run in real time, in person and online using a powerful platform (EventsAir) that offers many attractive features such as the ability to capture and follow up new leads and conduct live audience polling. There will also be an interactive and in-person (physical) exhibition hall and networking facility enabling delegates to connect with each other bringing virtual and in-person audiences together (one-to-one and in groups).
The conference presents the opportunity to promote products and services as well as to raise an organisation’s global profile. It will also offer the opportunity for organisations to associate themselves with the Nottingham Business School's commitment to sustainability.
Featuring academics and practitioners from over 53 countries, and a broad range of industries and perspectives, this conference is a perfect opportunity to promote your activities as a forward-thinking, engaged and collaborative player supporting the valuable insights shared. Covering topics such as mental health, equality and diversity and sustainability, this conference is progressive. These are challenges we all face and must respond to in a more informed way to make the transformation that is now needed.
