This conference aims to help early-career researchers (ECRs) to showcase their research, receive developmental feedback, learn more about academic life, and develop publication strategies.
The British Academy of Management's Corporate Governance SIG, the Centre for Enterprise and Innovation (De Montfort University), Finance and Banking Research Centre (DMU), the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (the University of Manchester) and the Centre for Innovative and Sustainable Finance (The University of Portsmouth) are delighted to jointly invite you to the 2nd Early Career Researchers Conference – SIIB2022. The theme of the conference is “Research in Turbulent Times: New Thinking”.
The conference welcomes submissions in the areas of Strategy, Innovation, Corporate Governance, Finance, and International Business (SIIB). The conference aims to help early-career researchers (ECRs) to showcase their research, receive developmental feedback, learn more about academic life, and develop publication strategies.
The conference will feature keynote presentations from leading scholars in the SIIB areas, panel presentations on career development relevant to ECRs (e.g., "The Jobs Market" and "Publishing in Top Academic Journals"), and a series of parallel track sessions for ECRs to present their ongoing research.
ECRs are invited to submit abstracts from their finished research or research in progress that enhances our understanding of the broad areas of strategy, innovation, corporate governance, finance, and international business.

Michelle Greenwood is Associate Professor in the Department of Management at Monash University. Her research area, broadly speaking, is critical business ethics. In this context she has developed critical and ethical approaches to a number of distinct areas: ethics and HRM (critiquing ideology and consensus in HRM); stakeholder theory (developing critical and relational understandings of stakeholder theory); CSR (developing political approaches to nexus of CSR and employment); and corporate accountability (analysing CSR reporting and visual rhetoric in corporate reports). She also has an ongoing interest in publication ethics. Currently Michelle is co-guest editing special issues on “Work and Freedom in the 21st Century” at Human Relations and “Intimate Partner Violence and Business” at Journal of Business Ethics. She has held editorial positions as Journal of Business Ethics, Business and Society and Business Ethics Quarterly and serves as co-editor-in-chief for Journal of Business Ethics.

Oliver Alexy joined the TUM School of Management in 2012 as Professor of Strategic Entrepreneurship. Previously, he held several roles in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Group at Imperial College Business School in London, England. He teaches on topics such as organizational design, open innovation, entrepreneurial strategy & growth, and social entrepreneurship in the undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs at TUM School of Management and other schools of TUM, such as Informatics.
In his research, Oliver studies how to design organizations that effectively deal with extreme uncertainty, such as high-tech start-ups, R&D units, or online communities. His work has been published in leading academic and practitioner-oriented outlets, such as the Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal, as well as Harvard Business Review, California Management Review, Sloan Management Review, and McKinsey Quarterly. His recent interests mainly revolve around questions of how collaboration, knowledge disclosure, or framing strategies may help uncertainty-facing organizations become more legitimate or more innovative, grow or reestablish themselves, or build or commandeer innovation ecosystems. Oliver is a co-editor of Strategic Organization and sits on the editorial review board of several management journals.
