Professor David Sarpong will be talking with us about how to organise and structure your doctoral thesis, which models work best and the importance of having a strong literature review.
Dr Beldina Owalla will also be discussing a new study launched at Oxford Brookes University in partnership with the British Academy of Management and the UKRI EDI Caucus to understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the career life cycle of early career academics (ECAs).

Professor David Sarpong
David Sarpong is Professor of Strategy and the Marketing and Strategy Subject Group Head at Aston Business School, Aston University. An elected Vice Chair of the British Academy of Management (BAM), David serves on the BAM Council’s Sub-Committee of Academic Affairs of Conference and Capacity Building (AACCB), and is a former Convenor of the Annual Doctoral Symposium of the Academy. A Senior Visiting Research Fellow at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) Laboratory for Economics of Innovation, David has since 2015 conducted research on Russia's Basic Research Program (RBRP) on 'Global Competitiveness’ at the National Research University in Moscow. He is Associate Editor for the Journal of Strategy and Management, and currently enjoys a Visiting Professorship at the Bristol Business School, and an Honorary Research Fellowship at the School of Management, Information Technology, and Public Governance, University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.
Dr Beldina Owalla
Dr Beldina Owalla is a Senior Lecturer in Business and Management at Oxford Brookes Business School.
She is currently leading an EDI Caucus funded project seeking to understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the career life cycle of early career academics (ECAs) including postdocs and doctoral students.

Payment for the event must be received before the start date of the event concerned. Access will not be permitted to the event if full payment has not been received.

Cancellations received within 14 days of booking your place on the event will receive a full refund.

Cancellations received after the 14-day cancellation period and later than 14 days before the start date of the event will not be eligible for a refund.

Although we endeavour to run all events as advertised, BAM reserves the right to cancel any event if, for example, there are not enough people to justify running the event or if other significant unforeseen circumstances arise.
To cancel a booking a cancellation request must be submitted via your BAM Account, to do this:
