Session theme: Presenting your work at a conference
We will be joined by Shepherd Mpofu is Professor of Media and Communication at the University of South Africa, who will be guiding us though the journey of preparing and presenting your papers and research at conferences.

Shepherd Mpofu
Shepherd Mpofu is Professor of Media and Communication at the University of South Africa. He has published several articles on communication, media and journalism in Africa. His body of work covers social media and politics; social media and identity; social media and protests; internet shutdowns, social media and politics and dis/misinformation.
He is the co-editor of Remembering Mass Atrocities in the Global South. Palgrave (Macmillan 2024), co-editor of two forthcoming volumes on Gender and everyday lives and resistance in Africa; co-editor of a forthcoming volume on Protest cultures in Africa; Co-editor of New Journalism Ecologies in East and Southern Africa: Innovations, Participatory and Newsmaking Cultures (Palgrave 2023); Decolonising Media and Communication Studies Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (Routledge 2024) and Mediating Xenophobia In Africa (Palgrave 2020). He is editor of The Politics Of Laughter In The Social Media Age: Perspectives From The Global South (Palgrave Macmillan 2021) and Digital Humour In The COVID-19 Pandemic: Perspectives From The Global South (Palgrave Macmillan 2021).

Payment and Cancellation Policy
Payment for the event must be received before the start date of the event concerned. Access will not be permitted to the event if full payment has not been received.
Cancellations

Cancellations received within 14 days of booking your place on the event will receive a full refund.

Cancellations received after the 14-day cancellation period and later than 14 days before the start date of the event will not be eligible for a refund.

Although we endeavour to run all events as advertised, BAM reserves the right to cancel any event if, for example, there are not enough people to justify running the event or if other significant unforeseen circumstances arise.
To cancel a booking a cancellation request must be submitted via your BAM Account, to do this:

- Click 'My Events'
- Under 'Upcoming Events' will be the booking, please click Cancel Booking
- Follow the steps and complete the request
