Session theme: Why should you write for publication with your Supervisor
Writing for publication during your doctoral journey is important. Journals are ranked differently, it is important to understand the journal quality before publishing. If you are not able to publish during your doctoral journey, then it is not a serious issue, but publishing can help to enhance your chances of getting a job.
Each doctoral student’s journey is unique and you can publish after your defence. Several predatory journals may approach you during your doctoral journey to publish your work with them. Advisably, it is better to be guided by your supervisor before writing on your own. If your supervisors have stated discussing publishing from your doctoral work and you are not ready, then it is important that gain an understanding as to why they want to do this.
Your supervisors have the experience and knowledge to guide you effectively even though you may disagree. Also, this is the stage where you start to build your research networks and your supervisors can be instrumental in initiating this process. The session, with Professor Pawan Budhwar, will cover why to publish with your supervisors and how to build your research networks.
Vision:
The aim is to enable doctoral researchers to be confident, successful, and excited about their doctorial journey choices. This space is about being open and having innovative minds come together to learn, share, and network in a safe environment.
Mission:
We are curious minds, that strive for success and recognition. We will be confident through discussion, knowledge sharing, and celebrating success. As per the doctoral researcher’s definition.
Values:
To share information that will help inspire doctoral researchers to thrive in their doctoral journeys. Knowing what matters as a doctoral researcher is key to having a successful research journey.
