Online Symposium: Inclusive Entrepreneurship in Context
Online Symposium: Inclusive Entrepreneurship in Context
Description
Inclusive entrepreneurship in context is about inclusion in entrepreneurial activities by under-represented groups such as women, youth, ethnic minority, immigrant, transnational, disabled at the intersection of agency, structures, places and institutions. This shows the concept and practice of inclusive entrepreneurship are complex, multidimensional, with many specifics both on individual and contextual levels. The common goal of inclusive entrepreneurship initiatives is to ensure that all people, regardless of their characteristics and socio-economic background, have an equal opportunity to start and manage their own business (OECD/European Commission, 2013).
The concept of inclusive entrepreneurship, however, is less studied and requires comprehensive analysis to advance scholarly understanding and, inform policy and practice. This research symposium is jointly organised by BAM Entrepreneurship SIG, The Centre for Enterprise and Innovation at De Montfort University and ISBE’s Entrepreneurship in Minority Groups SIG, to explore opportunities and challenges for entrepreneurship research and engagement by diverse actors in a variety of contexts and perspectives. What could we learn from, and reflect on, the past and present entrepreneurship research in order to identify research agenda/issues on ethnic minority, immigrant, women, transnational, and other under-represented groups? Drawing on a variety of theoretical stances and methods, invited distinguished scholars from the UK and the EU share their insights into these agenda-setting issues drawing on the decades of the research and engagements.
