This webinar will present practical tips and strategies for surviving the peer review process, and is run by the BAM Peer Review College (PRC) and Early Career Academic Network (ECA). A number of speakers from the PRC will share their experiences of peer review including dealing with different types of paper rejection, the psychological impact of rejection, tackling and responding to reviewer comments, developing peer support networks, and managing the risks of peer review through a portfolio of projects.

Dr Sahar Bakr is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Marketing at Nottingham Trent University.
A pharmacist by background she holds an MSc in Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship and a PhD in Business and management from the University of Nottingham which focuses on consumer use of smart devices in the context of health, fitness and self-tracking.
Sahar spent time in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry as a Product Manager, where she managed several social media campaigns and worked with organisations to launch both consumer (B2C), and medical-grade (B2B) products successfully in the MENA region.
Her experience in industry has formed the basis of her teaching ethos which is centred around the power of industry-focused marketing education and the application of theoretical concepts, to real-life situations.
Before joining NTU, Sahar held a full-time position at De Montfort University, after working part-time at the University of Nottingham and Birmingham City University while doing her PhD.
During her time in higher education, she designed, led and taught several modules on undergraduate, MSc, and MBA courses which included Direct Marketing, Global Marketing, Digital Consumer Behaviour, Digital Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Marketing and Project Management.

Previously, Prof Jones undertook terms as Head of the School of Management and Head of the Business Department. Prof Jones has previously held academic posts at Coventry University, Plymouth University and the University of South Wales. He is an experienced academic manager and researcher and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, Senior Editor with Information Technology and People and Associate Editor for the International Journal of Management Education. He is also Editor of the Emerald Book Series Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship Research.
Prof Jones is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and sits on the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE). Prof Jones undertakes research in small business management and entrepreneurial behaviour. To date in his career, Professor Jones has supervised 20 doctoral students to completion and examined over 60 candidates in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. He is currently seeking applications for doctoral candidates in the areas of entrepreneurship and small business management. He is interested in research exploring entrepreneurial behaviour and all aspects of small business management. During his academic career to date, he has generated over £1.6 million in external grant income. This has included entrepreneurship projects with the Nigerian government, obtaining European Structural funds, Higher Education Academy grants, British Council and Knowledge Exploitation Funds with the Welsh government.

Dermot Breslin is Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Rennes School of Business, France. He has previously held faculty positions at the University of Sheffield, UK, Tor Vergata University, Italy, the University of Saarlandes, Germany and Lincoln Business School, UK. His current research focuses on evolutionary approaches in organization studies, organizational learning and creativity. Dermot has been Co Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Management Reviews since 2017, and he sits on the editorial boards of the Journal of Management Studies, International Small Business Journal and the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour & Research. His research has been published in leading business and management journals including International Journal of Management Reviews, Organization Studies, Organizational Research Methods, Work Employment and Society, Technological Forecasting & Social Change, European Management Review and Studies in Higher Education. Before entering academia, Dermot worked in the steel, aluminium and paper industries, in engineering design, operations and sales management.

He is also Principal Investigator of TiPS (Technology in Professional Services) Accelerator for digital adoption in law and accountancy firms and Director of the School’s Centre for Productivity & Innovation. His research is concerned with the intersection between innovation in products, services and technologies, and the processes and supply chains of which they are a part. His work on this theme has focussed on product customisation, supply chain flexibility, the links between public policy and innovation in supply networks, and innovation in business-to-business services. Recently, he has been researching the adoption of AI-based digital technology in law and accountancy firms, and the role of innovation support organisations in accelerating innovation adoption.
He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), a Member of the Council of Experts of the ESRC/Innovate UK Innovation & Research Caucus (IRC) and an AIM (Advanced Institute for Management Research) Services Fellow. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, and of the Journal of Operations Management, and a former Associate Editor of the Journal of Supply Chain Management. He serves, or has served as: an ESRC CASE Studentship Panel Member (2005-2008), an ESRC Peer Review College member (2010-present), a Fellow of the British Academy of Management Peer Review College, a member of the Board of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), and Vice-President (Conferences) of the International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM). He also chaired the 2021 British Academy of Management Conference, which was hosted by Lancaster University.
