Sustainability and responsible business are enjoying increasing traction in research and industry, and this is reflected in the rising number of postgraduates choosing to dedicate their research to sustainability topics. However, transitioning to impactful and successful careers after the PhD journey can sometimes feel like an insurmountable challenge.
The purpose of this workshop therefore is to provide a space for PhD students wanting to continue impactful careers to receive guidance and ask questions no matter how big or small about sustainability oriented careers in research and the private sector.

Dr. Anthony J Choi is an Assistant Professor in the Business-Society Management department at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University. He completed his PhD (organization studies) at the Schulich School of Business, York University and started his current position at RSM in 2021.
He uses quantitative methods with a focus on multilevel and panel analyses to investigate how community- and country-level ethical infrastructures control organizational wrongdoing and how organizations remain socially responsive in an effort to identify and avoid risks. As reflected in the emergence of sustainability due diligence, the importance of restraining wrongful actions such as human rights violations and excessive emissions is being more acknowledged in both academia and industries.
Tony has published in top journals such as Organization Studies and Organization Science and received awards during his PhD for best student paper including at AOM and ASAC. He will be a mentor at the SIM Research Development Workshop for AOM this year in Copenhagen alongside his role as The Search Committee Chair at Erasmus University.Lecturer in Marketing, Liverpool Hope University

Dr Stephanie Haddad is a Lecturer in Marketing at Liverpool Hope University and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She holds a PhD in Marketing, Operations, and Systems, an MBA, and dual BBAs in Auditing & Accounting and Finance. Her PhD explored self-brand-congruity and emotional brand attachment in luxury and counterfeit markets, completing it in just 2.5 years.
Dr. Haddad specializes in consumer psychology, fashion marketing, branding, and AI in marketing. Her research is published in top journals and has gained media attention, including podcast features. She has chaired conferences and received awards such as the Student-Led Teaching Award (2023) and Highly Commended Academic Impact of the Year (2022, 2023).
She is a member of CIM, AM, IBERA, and FMCd and has industry experience as a KPMG auditor, retail co-founder, and supervisor at Beirut Fashion Week.Doctoral Training Programme Manager, Midlands Graduate School (MGS)

Dr Chris Thompson is a Doctoral Training Programme Manager with the Midlands Graduate School (MGS). Chris previously worked in professional sport and as a lecturer, and completed his thesis investigating 'Mental Fatigue in Football' in April 2021, which was recognised on the Dean’s List at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Chris now works as an advisor for students at the MGS from University of Warwick, Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester and Loughborough as well as Aston University, De Montfort and Nottingham Trent to provide valuable advice on various aspects related to PhD studies, including study techniques, wellbeing, and employability strategies.
Previous workshops have included “Stairway to Lecture: A Roadmap to Progress from PhD to Lecturer”, “Non-Academic Job Interviews: 4 Questions to Get Ready For” or “I would like to stay in academia after my PhD. What can I do?”.

Founder, Bryant Research
Dr Chris Bryant is the founder of Bryant Research, an applied research company specialising in social science research in food system transitions. He is an expert in alternative proteins, and has published dozens of papers on the social dimensions of the protein transition with over 4000 citations to date. He has his MSc in Policy Research from the University of Bristol and his PhD on consumer acceptance of plant-based foods from the University of Bath.
Chris is the head of policy at the Alternative Proteins Association with prior experience as Director of Social Sciences at the Cellular Agriculture Society and at Bloomberg and the Environmental Investment Organisation. Chris also co-organises the RECAP Group (Research to End Consumption of Animal Products).

Robin Strueber is a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. His research is focussed on sustainable transitions through leadership and innovation in food systems.
He is further assisting on a project aiming to support SMEs in the midlands improve scope 3 emission accounting and has prior experience in carbon accounting for CSRD. Past teaching includes International Business, Corporate Responsibility and Marketing Strategy. He received the HEFI Horizon teaching award in 2022.

Fiona Warigon is an Associate Lecturer at Northumbria University and a PhD candidate in Leadership and Human Resource Management. In addition to teaching, Fiona is engaged in research on stakeholder engagement and expectation, sustainable business practices, and leadership development.
Beyond academia, Fiona has diverse professional experience, including roles in business analysis, customer relations, and financial advisory services. She holds certifications in business change, project management, and consulting including from BCS, CMI, and IBM.
