The British Academy of Management - Entrepreneurship Special Interest Group Research Conference 2025, hosted IN-PERSON by the University of Leicester School of Business, University of Leicester, serves as a premier gathering for scholars, practitioners, and doctoral students to discuss contemporary entrepreneurship practices, theories, challenges, disseminate research findings and explore synergies within the field of entrepreneurship.
This is the second BAM SIG Entrepreneurship Conference, following on from the success of our event in 2024. The aim of the conference is to build on the success and to encourage and promote entrepreneurship research among academics at all levels and practitioners, entrepreneurs.
Papers in progress and complete research papers will be considered for the conference with the opportunity to receive valuable comments from the sessions facilitators and the entrepreneurship community part of the audience. Different tracks will be created based on the topics and volume of papers received. Please see below for more details.
The conference will aim to invite a talk from a Senior scholar in the entrepreneurship field and also an editor from IJMR, which would be very beneficial to all attendees, and particularly early-careers and PGR student, to understand what a good literature review is and how to publish literature reviews

Dr Md Imtiaz Mostafiz is the Deputy Associate Dean of Research Excellence and Associate Professor in Strategy and International Business at the University of Leicester Business School, University of Leicester, UK. He is honoured to have received the Global Talent Award from the British Academy. Imtiaz is a Peer Review College Member of the Economics and Social Research Council – UK Research and Innovation and of the British Academy of Management. He is also the Chair of the Entrepreneurship Track at the British Academy of Management.
Imtiaz have several publications in top-tier journals in the area of international business, strategy, and entrepreneurship, such as the British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research, International Business Review, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research, International Marketing Review, etc. In addition, he serve as an associate editor for the Entrepreneurship Research Journal and sits on the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research, International Marketing Review, etc. Imtiaz has also won the ‘Best Reviewer Award’ from the Journal of World Business and several Best Conference Paper Awards, such as from the Academy of International Business and the British Academy of Management.

Dr Boyka Simeonova is an Associate Professor of Innovation at the University of Leicester. Boyka is the Director of Research for the Marketing and Strategy School at the College of Business, University of Leicester.
Boyka has published in highly-ranked organization and management journals including the Journal of the Association of Information Systems, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Information System Journal, Journal of Information Technology, Information Technology and People, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research.
Boyka has co-edited the following books: Strategic Information Management: Theory and Practice (5th ed., Routledge) and the Cambridge Handbook of Qualitative Digital Research (Cambridge University Press).

Dr Francis Donbesuur is an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Leicester School of Business, United Kingdom (UK).
Before this role, he was a Lecturer at the Loughborough University School of Business and Economics, UK. Francis’ primary research focuses on the interface between Strategic Entrepreneurship and International Business, mostly within the contexts of developing and emerging economies. He has co-authored more than 20 research articles in the area of Entrepreneurships; Innovation; Small Business Growth; and Internationalization Strategies of SMEs in impactful journals such as ABS 4 and 3 (ABDC, A* and A/B) ranked journals including the Journal of Product Innovation Management, British Journal of Management, R&D Management; Industrial Marketing Management; Journal of Business Research, Technovation, International Business Review, Journal of International Management, among others.
In addition, his research has been presented at global conferences such as the Academy of Management, Academy of International Business and the American Marketing Association, and; has won awards including the 2023 Out of (and Into) Africa” Conference Best Paper; the 2018 Academy of International Business (African Chapter) Best PhD Conference Paper and the 2017 Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy Best Conference Paper.
Francis has a PhD in Strategic Entrepreneurship from the University of Leeds Business School and an MSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Durham Business School, as well as a Bachelor of Education (Economics) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

For the conference please submit a completed paper (6000-8000 words) or a developmental paper (2500-3500 words).

Dr. Jonathan Pinto is Associate Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Negotiations at Imperial College Business School. He received his Bachelor’s in Commerce and Bachelor’s in Law from the University of Mumbai, his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
His research primarily focuses on the ‘dark side of organisational behaviour’ and includes topics such as organizational corruption, whistle-blowing, workplace aggression, and employee deviance. His work has been published or is forthcoming in prestigious outlets such as Academy of Management Review, Group & Organization Management (GOM), Human Relations, International Journal of Management Reviews, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Organizational Psychology Review, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Physica A, Research Policy, and Best Paper Proceedings of the Academy of Management, among others. His article with Mark Stein was awarded the Best Micro Paper (2011) in GOM. His submission to the Annual Conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (2007) won a Top Poster award.
He teaches “Organizational Behaviour” and “Managing Negotiations” on Imperial’s MBA programmes. He has won several teaching awards including the Dean's Teaching Award for Overall Best Scores in Multiple Courses (2014) and the Teaching Excellence Award for MBA Core Module Teaching (2015). He has also been a visiting faculty member at the Indian School of Business and at London Business School. He is a Trustee of Kensington & Chelsea Citizens Advice.
Prior to embarking on his doctorate he worked for Procter & Gamble, Andersen Consulting, and Clarion Advertising, and ran his own boutique consulting firm. In all, Jonathan has been engaged as an employee, contractor, consultant, or trainer with over 50 organizations across six countries on three continents.
