“Sprint event: Network/team building, outlining proposals and grants ideas towards sustainable development”

This session is very much group work focused with real funding bids to target. We want to add ‘meat to the bones’ in terms of bringing potential projects much closer to potential submission.

We will cover barriers (internal and external), costing strategies, gaps to fill, and deadlines to meet. At the end, it is hoped that all involved have an action towards submitting at least one funding bid somewhere in the near future.

The group will feedback on submissions, successes and even failures.

PRE-EVENT HOMEWORK FOR PARTICIPANTS:

Gather information on potential funding pots to apply for. Share updates and actions taken towards new projects, networks and bids.


Webinar Series Aims: 

Three webinars, four aims.

  1. Webinar 1 (20th November 2024): To understand and examine failures and successes when applying for grants (a focus on previous submissions).
  2. Webinar 2 (4th December 2024): To explore and build ideas for making sustainable development grants more competitive (a focus on new project ideas) and to build networks and teams towards common interests in sustainable development grants (a focus on project team building).
  3. Webinar 3 (8th January 2025): To outline potential new proposals for sustainable development grants and set targets (a focus on action towards submitting new grant proposals).
  4. Action orientated following the series: Within new networks, and with new projects, submit competitive sustainable development focused funding bids.

The webinar series is designed to encourage, inspire and create action towards sustainable development grants (and therefore sustainable development action). It is an ever-competitive process and achieving success is harder than it has ever been.

This series will bring together energy and passion with a view towards greater grant success (especially for those that have never achieved it before). Academics under pressure to win grants or wanting to really push their careers will hopefully be interested in generating understanding, better networking and bringing ideas to fruition.

Our Sustainable and Responsible Business SIG will provide a base outside of institutional pressures to creatively discuss and strategize ways forward for the coming months and years. The SIG and related network will be there to fast-track advice and pose questions within a relaxed atmosphere of like-minded academics.

Who Should Attend?

Early Career or Mid-Career researchers may find most benefit, especially where they are seeking those first contacts and initial successes with grants, but this is not the limit of our welcome. Practitioners may also want to get involved to find a network of academics to work with.

The event speaks to Academics, Mid-career researchers, Early career researchers, Doctoral students, Practitioners, as detailed in the BAM Framework

Payment and Cancellation Policy

Payment for the event must be received before the start date of the event concerned. Access will not be permitted to the event if full payment has not been received. 

Cancellations 

  • Cancellations received within 14 days of booking your place on the event will receive a full refund. 

  • Cancellations received after the 14-day cancellation period and later than 14 days before the start date of the event will not be eligible for a refund.  

  • Although we endeavour to run all events as advertised, BAM reserves the right to cancel any event if, for example, there are not enough people to justify running the event or if other significant unforeseen circumstances arise.

To cancel a booking a cancellation request must be submitted via your BAM Account, to do this:

  • Go to your BAM Account
  • Click 'My Events'
  • Under 'Upcoming Events' will be the booking, please click Cancel Booking
  • Follow the steps and complete the request
