Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join us as a Senior Lecturer in Marketing within an experienced and ambitious academic staff who work together to provide excellent professional education and transform lives through their teaching, research and public engagement activities. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in International Marketing or Digital Marketing.
The successful candidate would be expected to take on leadership roles within the discipline and School and to take an active role in the teaching, design and leadership of our UG and Masters programmes, which includes an MSc Management and BSc Business Management, and any new programmes we will develop in the field. In addition to teaching excellence the successful candidate would be expected to carry out independent research at the highest level, publishing impactful work in high quality research journals, books and book chapters, and presenting work at major international conferences. Since the School is also focused on impact beyond the Academy, it is also likely that the successful candidate would be able to make a strong contribution in that field also. Finally, the successful candidate should ideally have a track record in generating overhead bearing research income to help demonstrate the quality of their research and impact.
Summary of Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential:
- PhD in a relevant subject
- Clear evidence of excellence in University learning and teaching
- Demonstrated experience of design, development and delivery of teaching programmes at various levels
- Track record of developing and applying innovating and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students
- Experience of setting, marking, assessing work and examinations and providing feedback to students
- Experience of supervision of undergraduate/taught and research postgraduate student projects
- Publish high quality outputs with the potential to be assessed as internationally excellent and world leading by the UK’s Research Excellence Framework assessors
- Ability to take a proactive approach to the development of research and impact strategies
- Mentor colleagues and advise on personal development
- Develop ideas for generating income and promoting the subject
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to engage and travel in occasional overseas recruitment activities
- Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands
Desirable:
- Experience of successful international recruitment
- Experience of providing academic leadership to a programme or area of study by coordinating and organising a team
- Experience of producing research which has a significant impact on policy and practice in the field of business and management
- Experience of engaging with key public stakeholders in disseminating and developing impactful research
