The British Academy of Management (BAM) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic freelance Conference Support Associate to support the delivery of our prestigious annual conference.

Since 1986, BAM has been dedicated to representing and developing the global community of management academics, boasting nearly 2000 members across 60 countries. Our annual conference attracts over 1,000 delegates from around the world, and this year's event will be a hybrid format, taking place at Kent Business School.

About the Role:

This freelance position is crucial in the lead-up to our 2025 conference, assisting our small, friendly team with the peak workload from June to September. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of this international event.

The conference itself will be held in person at Kent Business School from September 3rd-5th, with an online-only day on September 1st and an in-person Doctoral Symposium on September 2nd. Attendance at the Doctoral Symposium and conference (August 31st - September 5th) will be required, with travel and accommodation provided by BAM.

Responsibilities (may include):
  • Delegate enquiry management and booking support
  • Scheduling assistance
  • Liaison with the conference venue, sponsors, and suppliers
  • General administrative support related to conference logistics

This role is perfect for an experienced events freelancer, capable of understanding the needs of the business studies and management research community. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a proactive, energetic, and resilient approach.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in organising medium to large-scale events
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and social media platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with hybrid event formats
  • Experience of academic conferences
