Johanna Weststar, Associate Professor in the DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies at Western University, Canada has been studying the employment conditions of the video game industry for fifteen years.
Despite predictions that it would never happen, game workers around the world are engaged in a concerted effort to unionize. Johanna was featured in a recent episode of NPR's The Indicator from Planet Money as part of a five-episode series on the economics of the video game industry.
